The Benton Harbor
Public Library is located in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The library serves a predominantly African-American community and is economically disadvantaged.
In 2005 the city was the site for the Jimmy Carter Habitat for Humanity Program.
The library is looking for donations of young adult books for their summer reading program. Due to budget restraints they are unable to purchase any new books and have been turned down for corporate
donations. Last year they had around seventy teens sign up for the summer reading
program and around half finished it. Most of the teens in the Benton Harbor Public Library community are reluctant or below
grade-level readers.
Any donations would be much appreciated; they are looking to get about sixty books for their reading program.
The library has set up an Amazon Wish List which they are adding to.
